About Dr. Derek Sheen

Derek Sheen, MD, is a fellowship-trained facial plastic surgeon in Plano, TX, specializing exclusively in aesthetic facial and neck surgery. His practice is built around harmonious facial refinement, structural balance, and natural but unmistakable improvement.

Dr. Sheen’s work is safe, focused, intentional, and deeply individualized. Rather than treating the face as separate parts, he studies how the nose, chin, cheeks, jawline, neck, eyelids, brow, skin, and soft tissues relate to one another. That broader view allows him to create results that look refined, cohesive, and naturally suited to the patient.

His aesthetic is guided by proportion, precision, and an understanding of the face as a whole. Every surgical plan is shaped around the patient’s individual anatomy, with careful attention to structure, definition, and facial harmony. The goal is meaningful, visible transformation that preserves identity and feels elegant, balanced, and completely at home in the face.

Dr. Sheen sees patients from Plano, Dallas, Frisco, Flower Mound, Highland Park, Park Cities, Southlake, Fort Worth, and throughout the DFW metroplex and North Texas, as well as patients who travel for a facial plastic surgery consultation.

A Face-Focused Practice in Plano, TX

Dr. Sheen’s practice is only dedicated to facial plastic surgery. This level of focus allows him to concentrate on the details that matter most in facial aesthetics: proportion, expression, movement, symmetry, incision placement, tissue support, skin quality, and long-term balance.

He offers a focused range of facial procedures, including:

Each procedure is considered in relation to the face as a whole. A patient may come in asking about one feature, but Dr. Sheen’s role is to identify what is actually causing the concern and which plan will yield the most complete, natural, and durable result.

Training Built Around the Face and Neck

Dr. Sheen completed residency training in Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. During residency, he trained in a high-volume surgical environment with experience at major institutions, including Parkland Memorial Hospital and the Dallas VA. This foundation gave him a detailed understanding of head and neck anatomy, surgical safety, facial structure, and functional anatomy.

He then completed advanced fellowship training in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at New York University in New York City. There, he trained with Dr. David Rosenberg, Dr. Matthew White, and Dr. Philip Miller, gaining exposure to a wide range of advanced facial aesthetic techniques.
His fellowship experience included deep-plane facelift and neck lift surgery, rhinoplasty, revision rhinoplasty, blepharoplasty, brow lift, facial fat grafting, and comprehensive facial rejuvenation. He also served as a clinical instructor at NYU, teaching residents in the operating room while continuing to develop his own surgical technique.

During his transition from New York to Dallas, he completed a fellowship in Seoul, Korea at Asan Medical Center under Professor Jong Woo Choi, Chief and Professor of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. The fellowship introduced him to leading facial aesthetic surgeons across Korea and gave him direct exposure to advanced techniques in facelift and rhinoplasty from surgeons at the center of the country’s global reputation in facial aesthetics, insight he brought back into his own approach to both the aging face and the nose.

That combination of training matters. Dr. Sheen trained under multiple mentors, evaluated different approaches, and developed a surgical style grounded in meticulous individualized accuracy, structural support, and refined aesthetic judgment.

An Optimal Patient Experience

Dr. Sheen’s practice is designed to feel calm, refined, and highly personalized. Patients can expect a thoughtful consultation, clear recommendations, and a process built around discretion, communication, and individualized attention.

He is known for being calm, honest, and easy to talk to. Patients are encouraged to ask questions and speak openly about their goals, concerns, and hesitations. Dr. Sheen values direct conversation because strong results depend on alignment between the patient and surgeon.

Rather than being high-volume, trend-driven, or built around promotional care, Dr. Sheen’s approach is focused on quality, detail, and long-term outcomes. Every treatment plan is shaped around the patient’s anatomy, goals, and overall facial balance.

Patients should feel that they are being cared for by someone who is thoughtful, professional, and fully invested in their results.

From my very first consultation, Dr. Derek Sheen provided an exceptional experience. His attention to detail, professionalism, and artistic eye immediately gave me confidence that I was in the best hands. I had an eyebrow lift performed, and the results exceeded every expectation I had. My appearance looks incredibly refreshed, elegant, and natural — never overdone.

Dr. Sheen’s Philosophy

Dr. Sheen’s philosophy begins with the face as a complete structure, resting on a simple distinction: natural is never the same as underdone.

A facelift cannot be planned without studying the midface, neck, jawline, skin, and facial volume. Eyelid surgery cannot be separated from brow position, cheek support, and expression. The nose cannot be evaluated without the chin, lips, cheeks, brow, and overall profile. Each part of the face influences the others.

This is why Dr. Sheen does not make generic recommendations but rather studies how each feature contributes to the full face before recommending a plan. Sometimes the right answer is one procedure. Other times, the most natural and profound result comes by addressing several connected areas with a more complete strategy.

At the center of his consultation process are three principles: perspective, expectations, and trust.

Perspective.

means helping patients understand what is actually creating the concern. A patient may think one feature is the problem, but facial balance is often more complex.

Expectations.

mean being direct about what surgery can improve, what it cannot, and what kind of result is realistic for the patient’s anatomy.

Trust.

means creating a process where patients are heard, guided, and supported without pressure.

Dr. Sheen’s role is to give patients clarity and provide education. He explains what can be improved, what should be left alone, and which plan fits their face, goals, and anatomy.

A Modern Comprehensive Approach to Facial Rejuvenation in Dallas, TX

Dr. Sheen’s facial rejuvenation work is centered on deeper structure rather than surface tension. In facelift surgery, this includes an extended preservation deep-plane approach intended to reposition deeper facial tissues while diminishing unnecessary skin trauma.

This technique allows Dr. Sheen to address the midface, jawline, and neck more comprehensively. The goal is not simply tighter skin. The goal is better support, better facial continuity, and a more durable improvement that still looks natural.

For many facelift patients, facial fat grafting may also be part of the plan. Aging regularly involves both tissue descent and volume loss. Restoring support without restoring balance can leave the result incomplete. By evaluating the face as a whole, Dr. Sheen can determine when volume restoration, skin resurfacing, eyelid surgery, brow lift, chin augmentation, or another procedure may enhance the final result.

The goal is for patients to look sharper, more attractive, more rested, and better supported without looking like someone else. The change should be clear, but it should still feel completely natural to the face.

From the Barbershop to Facial Plastic Surgery

While in college, Dr. Sheen worked as a barber, an early experience that cultivated his eye for proportion, detail, and individual style. What began as a hands-on hobby, passion, and skill became one of his earliest lessons in aesthetics, communication, and trust.

In the barbershop, people often arrive with a vision of how they want to look, even if they do not always know how to describe it precisely. The work requires more than technical ability. It requires listening, interpretation, proportion, and judgment to understand what will actually suit the individual.

That experience still informs how Dr. Sheen approaches consultations today. He takes time to understand what patients see, what bothers them, what they hope to change, and what they want to preserve. His goal is not to impose a single aesthetic. It is to translate each patient’s goals into a surgical plan that appears natural, refined, and true to the face.
